Features and Advantages of Composite Collectors

The composite collector is a composite material that uses plastic films such as PET/PI/PP as the base film, and then accumulates copper/aluminum molecules on both sides through vacuum deposition and other processes. Compared with the traditional collector, the composite collector adopts a three-layer composite structure of “metal polymer material film metal”. The copper composite foil generally forms a metal layer on the surface of the PET/PI/PP polymer film by vacuum evaporation or magnetron sputtering, and then the metal layer is thickened to 1 μ over m. The aluminum composite foil can be coated by one-step evaporation.

Composite fluid collectors have advantages such as high safety, high energy density, low cost, long service life and strong compatibility.

High safety: Polymer insulation materials are not easily broken and can prevent battery short-circuiting, uncontrolled heating and self-ignition. The addition of flame retardant formula makes it have both flame retardant functions.

High Energy Density: Polymer thin film materials have low density, and PET composite copper foil has a significant weight reduction effect compared with pure copper foil, which improves the energy density of the battery.

Low cost: The production process of polymer film materials is mature, and the unit cost is lower than that of copper/aluminum metal. After large-scale production, it will have cost advantages

Long life: Polymer materials form a layered circular sponge structure around the active material layer in the battery. During the charging and discharging process, they can absorb the expansion-contraction stress generated by the insertion and extraction of lithium ions in the active material layer of the electrode, thereby maintaining the long-term integrity of the electrode interface and increasing the cycle life by 5%.

Strong compatibility: Directly upgrading traditional collectors to composite collectors does not affect the internal electrochemical reactions of the original battery, so composite collectors can be applied to power batteries of various specifications and systems.
